The weather in our neck of the woods is finally getting warm. We certainly hope that the 30 and 40 degree days are done until next year. I don’t know about you but my thoughts go to yard work, planning my garden, and putting the winter clothing away. You know that means it’s time to put on the stuff you wore last year. So, what happens when you slip into those cute summer shorts or capris? Are they a little snug? What are the first words out of your mouth?
- Who shrunk my clothes?
- How the Heck did these get so small?
- There’s something wrong here.
According to an article in Women’s Health Magazine in 59% of women gain an average of 4.5 lbs during the winter. The reasons – or excuses – range from the cold weather keeps me from going to the gym to the stand-by reason of comfort food.
Certainly, we can be less active, even if we do get to the gym. We aren’t involved in yard work, few of us shovel snow, and I believe we just wear more clothing and aren’t reminded of how our bodies look. Whatever the reason, we’re stuck with the extra pounds now. So, what can we do? I have ideas. Check them out.
- Get your Journal out and brush off the dust.
- Start to move, join a gym, or just get out in the neighborhood and walk.
- Cut sugar out of your diet. That also means limiting fruit and refrain from fruit juice.
- Hire a Coach.
