I was born in Germany and after finishing my apprenticeship, came to the U.S. as an Au Pair girl. I wanted to be fluent in English to work as a foreign language correspondent when I returned home. As fate would have it, I met my husband during my year here and ended up attending the community college to go after my Associates degree in Graphic Design. We got married and I made Northern Virginia my home.
Over the years, I moved from graphic design, to web design into software development, and completed my Bachelor's degree in IT.
My husband and I have a teenage son, who is growing up way too fast, a dog, and a ferret. I enjoy nature, love the smells of the different seasons, love listening to the birds sing, it gives me a sense of calm.
Horses are my great passion, which I haven't been able to engage in lately due to financial restrictions. However, I will remedy this. My parents always said, I'd outgrow the horse craze, alas, I never have. Reading is my other passion. I enjoy historical fiction, contemporary, a good mystery or thriller, love the Harry Potter series, and Stephen King.
Being an adult is certainly not easy. It always seemed no matter how hard we tried, we never got ahead financially. A coworker hosted a Pampered Chef party and she invited me. I had seen a catalog before and quite honestly, I'm a sucker for kitchen tools. Not sure why, I just am.
At this party, there were so many different tools, I agreed to host my own party a few months down the road. On my way home that evening, I got thinking, this might be a good way to make extra income and pay off that pesky debt. The consultant had fun and I could certainly cook. Hadn't I taken six years of cooking classes in school back in Germany?
That's how I made my decision to join this amazing company, and as they say, the rest is history.
